Freaks
Kyle s. wendt
Gargantuan hands wrapped themselves around his neck with fingers like boa constrictors. Air soon became a precious substance and he made every attempt and struggle to gain more against the humongous mans superhuman grip. There was a inhumanness in the eyes of the man strangling him. His eyes seemed to have no humanity left in them and were just a blank slate of white. “That’s enough” the words echoed throughout the empty and dark house. Something seemed to go through man and some sort of sentience showed behind his eyes as his grip loosened and then after a moment hands unclasped and let go. A figure seemed to have been born out of the shadows just inside of his peripheral vision. Even without any lights on, her pale skin seemed to shine off of whatever minute amount of light that had infiltrated the house. She wore an open brown overcoat that barely covered her breasts as she wore nothing underneath. As she kept walking the numerous holes scattered around the coat reflected her pale flesh and it seemed that every bit of skin revealed had some sort of artwork embroidered in ink in it. Her patchwork and mismatched clothing gave her away immediately. “Your” he started before a hand clasped over his mouth, smothering his words like a fire. “You can let him talk Sar” she said in a tiny voice, almost as if afraid of being heard “he knows if he yells he will die”. The hand slowly came off his mouth, allowing words to be heard. He studied the giant man for a second to make sure he wasn’t going to do anything in case he said something when he noticed something. “You” he started staring at the man in front of him then he turned his head to the woman and back to the man then continued “ both of you, your…your from the circus” he finally said flustered. “Yes, we are” she said, her voice cold and quiet even inside the empty house. “I… I just saw you a couple nights ago… at the circus… what…what the hell is going on here” his voice raised with fear and tinges of anger at the end, and even before he realized what had happened a hand reached out and wrapped its fingers across his head. He could feel the fingers beginning to constrict and crush his skull. He couldn’t see why and didn’t really care, but the fingers stopped their compacting of his head and the pulled away from his face. “Glutton for punishment aren’t you” came a different voice from the shadows. He stepped out into a cascade of moonlight that was penetrated from the closed curtains over the sink and he recognized him immediately. “Christian” it was more of a statement but came out as a question. “What the fuck is going on” the stunned man said, looking at all three people and trying desperately to patch things together. Christian leaned down nearly touching nose to nose and giving the man a close up of the crisscrossing scars that seemed to make his face up. The man felt fear as he looked into Christians eyes, but it wasn’t a fear like he felt from the large man which he knew was still around waiting for the signal top crush his head like a grape. This fear was not one of physical pain, but of someone who knew what they wanted and how to get it without doing anything…themselves. “What do you want” he finally managed to say, still looking into his face, trying to count the scars that littered it like the strange girls coat. “You’re the judge for our court date tomorrow, you will let us go without any penalty, or you will be turned inside out and hung up to dry…alive” once he finished talking in a voice that sounded like crumpling paper he turned his back and began walking towards the door, the giant and the girl followed suit. “Yes” the judge replied, a bit of blood flew off his bottom lip as it moved. The words seemed to act like a wall and stopped Christian cold. His voice changed, from the crumply paper tone to a voice like skate on ice he turned around abruptly to face him. “That wasn’t me asking” and with that he turned around and continued out the door with the other two following closely behind. He was soon left alone, in a cold dark house, beaten and bloody, and his mind doing back flips. He was terrified.

Despite the cloud of relief the T3s he took a hour earlier provided him, he still had a headache from the night earlier, and he knew the dark bruises that fell along his scalp where concealed by his hair. He watched as they piled in, chains on their wrists and ankles. Christian led the group to where they would stand trial, and behind him were the giant man and the strange girl and the sight made him shiver. He waited as they all piled in. none of them looked nervous and Christian made eye contact, only for a second but it was enough to re install the fear from last night and cement what he was going to say. Once all the defendants where settled, the plaintiffs entered the room. They had an ice cold and very aggressive feel to them as all four of them walked down to their seats. They were all dressed the same, slate grey suits which seemed to match their eyes, they looked completely in contrast to the defendants who never really bothered to change at all, they always looked the same whether performing or going to court, they were circus freaks, and everyone knew it. As the judge went through the motions of court Christian looked over at the plaintiffs. They weren’t from the city and flew in an hour before court was supposed to start. They got to the judge and that all that mattered, but Christian would have liked to have “met” them before court to maybe get to change their point of view. As soon as the beginning ceremonies ended and the judged cued him to speak, the lead plaintiff began to speak. “Christian and his… employees if you could call them that are a menace to society and should be locked away in high security, there have been links and vague evidence that leads back to all of them at least once in a case of murder and while all we’ve had so far is vague evidence we now have real proof” his voice was hoarse and bold and filled the courtroom. He motioned at one of the other plaintiffs who rose and handed him a tape. After a moment of confusion a portable TV set was brought into the room and placed at the far right to the plaintiff’s side and facing everyone. He slid the tape in and pressed play.
The axe fell plummeted down again and again. Smashing more gashes into the victims body which caused bloody convulsions and a muffled scream behind a rope gag as the man bound to the floor screamed and tried to break free of the rope restraints that held him steady. The thrashing movements and screams finally stopped as she planted the axe deep into his skull, then covered in blood turned around to face the camera, smiled then threw a knife straight into the lens. The judge recognized the girl from last night and his jaw dropped.
He jumped onto the first girl’s pack biting straight into the arteries and thrashing her around and the blood sprayed the room and the other females as they watched in horror. The creature was vaguely human but the lack of clothes revealed it to be male and was just human enough to be considered so. He finally got the girl to the ground and still on top of her pack and mouth around her neck began to pull off the head with the spinal cord still attached. By the time it was finally out the other girls had hardly moved aside from being hunched over from puking which the judged had to hold in himself after watching the man do the same with to the other four women. The as he was covered in blood looked straight at the security camera then jump out the window from where he came. The judge scanned the defendant’s bench and found him, tongue hanging out of his mouth like a dog and hunched over in his seat. The sight disgusted him. A few people were escorted out as they couldn’t take any more but yells of death and life imprisonment were shouted at the circus men and women, who acted as if they couldn’t hear them.
They continued the tape as it showed every one of the circus performers doing some kind of gruesome deed. Everyone but Christian.
Without saying a word one of the plaintiffs handed the main plaintiff an item wrapped in cloth. “this ladies and gentlemen” he pronounced loudly “is the murder weapon Christian used against Claire august the same night as all those murders were committed too”. He unfolded the cloth and revealed a axe. “As you know your honor” he said to the judge who really began feeling the beating he took last night “the DNA and fingerprints and blood samples all came back as a positive match for Christian”. The judge looked over the plaintiff then said “is that all”, Yes your honor” came the reply and he sat down, and Christian came to a rise. “I’m aware of those videos and In the summary I gave you judge are the proof of their fakeness” Christian said towards the judge but facing the plaintiffs. “And as for the axe, well the lab that analyzed that was proven to have out dated and broken equipment and burnt down in a failed experiment therefore cancelling out any data that may have been processed there”. When asked if that was all he shook his head “one more thing” he said you said I was a menace while im actually a saint, what have you done” he said still looking at the plaintiffs but this time speaking to them “Ann” he nearly shouted “ was forced prostitute for a crime family that none of you did nothing about, I found her practically dead and brought her back, anywhere else shes been rejected or treated differently but we accepted her as our own” the judge recognized her as the girl from last night “charley rivets” he said with the same tone as he used when he said Ann “was abandoned by his parents and left in the woods, he managed to survive for five years out there and when he came back everyone tried to change him back to what they called a civilized human being, but we accepted him the way he is” charley was the creature boy from the second video, he seemed a bit more human but that could be because he wasn’t on all fours and covered in blood, but to the judge he still had a mixed feeling of sickness and anger. “Sar was a ex slave when we found him, his owners were using him to fight to make personal fortunes and we found him on the run broken and beaten and surely dead, we saved yet another life and accepted him into our family, something none of you would have” he said and as he walked back and seated himself back in his spot he finished off with “so to those who don’t understand may see me as a menace all I have done is save lives and give people a home and a family and people entertainment, but everyone needs a villain I suppose, I just hope when you look in the mirror, you’ll see yourself as me and realize you were wrong”. And with that he was done.
The judge waited for a little while, knowing what he was going to say but trying to work up the nerve. His head was throbbing and he tried to ignore it but it felt as if he was going to implode. He swallowed hard as if choking back the words he didn’t want to say and when he did speak it felt as if he was regurgitating sewer water.
“After reviewing the evidence” he lied “I have decided that Christian and the rest of his employees are...” he cleared his throat. He could feel his collar burn into his flesh and sweat begin to drip from his brow. “Not guilty and free to go”.
There were riots in the streets but the circus stood quiet on the outskirts of the city even though it was the cause for all of the yelling and fighting. Christian stood at the opening of the circus tent staring out at the city as it tears itself apart. Snow mixed with ash filled the air and floated to the ground, coating the surface. The circus had been there for years and had always been the centre of attention but people still came. It was nothing different for Christian or any of the other freaks people so loving called them to be piled into cop cars and escorted away while people threw all manner of projectiles at them. If it wasn’t for the crunching snow and ashes he would have never heard her coming. “Is there something wrong sir” came a cold yet soft voice like vanilla ice cream from behind him. Christian turned around to face her, a blaring fire in the distance highlighted his short blonde hair and scars “no, not really, just thinking, I’ll be in shortly” he said with a smile. “Ok” she replied as she walked back in, not questioning what he said despite a feeling inside her that said something was wrong. Christian pondered the days events, he managed to quell his anger when he heard Ann but now that she was gone it returned full force. “you knew you saw this coming yet your still so mad, you remember all those nights on the street, this is your time to get back, to get revenge, so why are you still so mad” he asked himself. “everything is going right how you expected, everything is in play and the domino effect will lead to your victory, you have everything planned out” and with that final talk to himself he worked his anger down and headed back in with the rest of his family.
“It’s the whole fuckin lot of them I tell you” the lead plaintiff yelled as he stripped off his gray suit. His hoarse voice seemed to turn to gravel as he kept yelling. “ you could see it when they came in, you could see it as they came out, all of them, especially that Christian motherfucker, who the fuck is he, I mean just the way that little cocksucker fuckin looked at us when he was talking, there’s something wrong about him”. “Michael” one of the plaintiffs behind him said. “That’s why we’re here remember, something’s fucked up and we’re here to fix it, but it can wait until tomorrow so chill out have a couple drinks and smokes and fuckin chill, alright”. Michael shot him a dirty look but didn’t say anything back. As Michael took a seat and lit a smoke, one of the other plaintiffs went to the mini fridge the hotel had in the back of the room and pulled out three bags, each full of a red liquid. “hey man, just think” he said with a heavy accent “ tomorrow we meet up with the rest of the guys here, then we take down the circus, right man, so tonight lets drink and have a bit of fun right” he said with a Jamaican accent as he dropped a bag in each of the guises laps. “This is the good shit right here man, no animal, all human and death by alcohol poisoning too, cost a couple pretty pennies but its damn well worth it.” He said as he sunk extended fangs into the bag draining the contents into his mouth and down his throat same as the other three vampires around him.

Michael picked up the morning news paper from the hotel lobby, fighting a crippling hangover he headed back to the hotel room where the other three guys were passed out. He could just manage to make out the headline. “judge commits suicide after controversial call”.

Good story. Your flow is hard to follow. you need to go back and explain. haha you write like i do and that is why it is easy for me to understand you. as fast as you are thinking you are putting it on paper. problem is that your typing got behind your thought train and you just need to tweak it a bit. go read it again in a day or two and add a bit to explain the full thought processes you had. right here..... The judge recognized the girl from last night and his jaw dropped.
He jumped onto the first girl’s pack biting straight into the arteries and thrashing her around and the blood sprayed the room and the other females as they watched in horror

huggggggz n i am enjoying your brilliance in writing. Keep going!! sunny
